YOGA FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY SPECIALIZATION COURSE

CERTIFIED BY THE YOGA ALLIANCE PROFESSIONALS UK AND THE EMBODIED YOGA ANATOMY - 100 HOURS

EIGHT SEMINARS OF THEORY AND PRACTICE OF YOGA FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY

FEBRUARY TO SEPTEMBER 2025 AT LISBOA YOGA LOFT

PROGRAM

. This Course was design for practitioners and yoga teachers who wish to develop their knowledge in Yoga Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics.

. The study doesn't follow any specific yoga tradition nor defends any method, all students and yoga teachers are welcome.

. The main purpose of this program is to help the student use the body intelligence in a functional way so he improves his asana practice and understands the mechanics, mobility and limitations of his and other bodies.

. The Course is mainly practical and contains an adequate amount of theory to follow that practice. It might be seen as a laboratory of anatomy in Yoga.

- This Course is NOT a Yoga Teachers Training. It's a specialization for students and practitioners that wishes to develop their knowledge and study in Yoga Functional Anatomy and Bio-mechanics -

YOGA FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY

Understanding the anatomy and body's mechanics is one of the essencial tools for the yoga practice, as for teacher as for practitioners.

One of the main purposes of this study is to learn and adapt the yoga practice to the structure, condition and limitations of the body. Anatomy will be approached in a very concise way so It will be easier to apply It in your yoga classes.

Learning the function of the body in depth on various levels we potentialise our practice and our yoga classes. With this foundation we can look at yoga in a more therapeutic way and adapted to the individual. We will learn how to apply the adequate adaptations and modifications for all levels of practice and student conditions.

This could also be a way for the teachers to enrich the communication and intervention with their students in the yoga classes.

- Function can never be separated from the structure, that's why It's necessary to study the human body's anatomy and physiology -

Osteology, Myology and Arthrology will be approached in this course by sections depending of the area of the body that we'll be studying and the corresponding asana.

We'll learn to define what limits the body movement through researching and studying muscular chains, bio mechanic relations, mio fascial tensegrity and articular blockages.

We'll study some of the most common pathologies and how to prevent injuries in the yoga practice. We'll approach some asana alternatives to help with those issues.

The comprehension of the human's anatomy and bio-mechanics allows us to develop and engage in the physical realm of the yoga practice (asana) but also works on the mind, emotional and energetic body.

This program also teaches how to use yoga props such as bricks, belts, bolsters, chairs, etc and how to apply these materials in an intelligent way to develop our practice and help students execute yoga postures without committing certain areas of the body and advance to a more mature and smooth practice.

PAULO MUIÑOS

PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN AND YOGA TEACHER

I’ve recently finished the first edition of this course and my understanding of the human body and its biomechanics has increased exponentially.

I’ve managed to overcome a hip and a shoulder injury with what I’ve learned during the course.

Not to mention that Hugo Abecassis is an outstanding pedagogue and an extremely honest teacher.

I strongly recommend it!

CARLA BACELAR

YOGA TEACHER

In my path as a Yoga teacher I dealt with plenty of people with distinctive and demanding physical conditions. I felt It was a responsibility to help them in a professional and serious way.

Without a doubt It was in this Course that I found efective answers.

This knowledge allowed me to feel safer and confident to help my students in a wise and adaptable way.

For some years, I've been dedicating myself to teaching yoga but I see myself essentially as a practitioner, a student at the beginning. It's great to find myself in this condition in this Course.

Hugo is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've come across on this path.

We spend two days exploring the foot and ankle and I'm eagerly waiting the next modules.

I initiated my Yoga path 12 years ago but I always felt and empty knowledge regarding the human body.

Participating in this Course allowed me to see beyond the appearances and gather strategies to develop my performance as a therapist.

I understand the effort and dedication that Hugo had to teach this Knowledge with brilliance and simplicity.
